The Southgate Parks and Recreation Department is currently looking to fill seasonal/part-time positions working within our department.

Parks & Recreation Maintenance (Part-Time - Evenings & Weekends Only)

Job Summary: The Zamboni Driver is responsible for driving the Zamboni to maintain acceptable ice conditions. Drivers also assist with general maintenance and upkeep of the ice arena, including sweeping, cleaning, and custodial duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and drive the Zamboni and other motorized equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of ice cuts, blade changes, and preventative maintenance.
  • Set up and remove hockey nets and retrieve hockey pucks for events.
  • Monitor public skating sessions on and off the ice.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, such as accident/incident reports and inventory.
  • Keep all facility areas neat, clean, and safe, including sweeping, mopping, and removing trash.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons, greeting them with a smile and responding to their needs courteously.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older and hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Highly motivated to learn new skills essential for rink operations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with others.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment.
